A child is dead and Minot Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who is responsible.
At 6:25 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 200 block of 11th Avenue Southeast to a report of a toddler who had been struck by a vehicle. The victim, identified by police as 1-year-old Zofia Pepple, New Town, was pronounced dead at Trinity Hospital.
Police say they are looking for a black pickup which was eastbound on 11th Avenue Southeast when it struck the child, continued to Third Street Southeast and turned southbound. The pickup was described as being clean with tinted windows and North Dakota license plates.
A “vehicle of interest” was captured on camera from a business four blocks away from where the child was struck. That vehicle is described as a black or dark colored Ford F-150, possibly 2004-2008 model, club or super cab, with factory running boards and tires. At the time of the incident it also may have had a tool box or other large item in the bed of the truck.
Police are asking anyone with information about a possible suspect or vehicle information to contact the Minot Police Department. They are also requesting that any homeowners who may have video surveillance systems in the area of the incident contact them.
