Nov. 25, 1961-Sept. 1, 2014
Darren Haddeland, 52, New Town, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, in a Bismarck hospital.
Darren was born Nov. 25, 1961, in New Town, the son of Maynard and Luella (Trulson) Haddeland. He was raised on the family farm, attended New Town schools and graduated from New Town High School in 1980. He then went to work in the oilfields and lived in Wyoming. When he moved back to New Town he attended Fort Berthold Community College before transferring to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He graduated from UND with a degree in petroleum geological engineering. Following college, he returned to New Town and later started his own company called DJ Consulting, a computer consulting business.
Darren was a man who loved anything really big and anything really small. He loved children, animals and farm life. He had several cats, dogs, miniature donkeys and horses. His favorite main horse was Smokey and his favorite miniature horse was Ed. He enjoyed riding horses, tractors and spending time with his animals. He was an excellent cook who liked to barbecue and smoke meats. He cherished spending time with his family and many friends socializing and sharing stories at campfires in his backyard. Blessed be his memory among us.
Darren is survived by: his mother, Luella, of New Town; brothers, Gale, of New Town, Brian (Cyndy) of Lynnwood, Wash., Rory, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Colin, of New Town; sisters, Tanya Haddeland, of New Town, Chris Ann Demary, of New Town, and Jodie Hysjulien (Kelly) of Battleview; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
