Evelyn Mae Reynolds

Evelyn Mae Reynolds, 96, Fargo, formerly of New Town, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, in the assisted living center at Riverview Place in Fargo.

Evelyn was born July 30, 1918, on her family’s farm in Howie Township of Mountrail County, the daughter of Bert and Susie Alden. She attended country schools until high school and graduated from Sanish High School in 1936. Evelyn was united in marriage to Hardin Reynolds on Oct. 17, 1938, at Powers Lake. They made their home in Sanish until 1950 when they moved to their farm, just west of New Town. After Hardin’s death, Evelyn moved into New Town in 2005. In August of 2010, she moved to Fargo to be closer to her family.

Evelyn helped on the family farm and also with Reynolds Insurance Agency in New Town. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and later the United Church of Christ. Evelyn’s priorities were her family, service to her church and the community. She was also very active in community affairs including Study Club, Homemakers Club and the Lakeside Senior Citizens. She enjoyed bowling, square dancing, gardening and her Bible study groups. Evelyn enjoyed traveling with her family and going on special bus trips and tours with friends. She was a great cook but was best known for her caramel rolls.

Evelyn is survived by: her son, Kenneth Reynolds (Jolene) of West Fargo; daughter, Mary Ann Starr (Reggie) of St. George, Utah; grandchildren, Todd Reynolds (Deb) of Horace, Craig Reynolds (Becky) of Bismarck, Andrea Aus (Milt) of Bismarck, Jennifer Iverson (Eric) of Kindred, Tyrone Miller (Susan) of Pollock Pines, Calif., and Chad Miller (Bobbi) of Arvada, Colo.; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Hardin, in 2003; parents; brothers, Dayl Alden (Ruth) and Burton Alden (Betty); sisters, Myra Hanson (Ray), Amelia Lageson (Clarence), Alice Brehm (Walter), Helen Rusch (Rhyne) and Jean Rohde (Tony).

Funeral Service: Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. in the United Church of Christ, New Town.

Interment: Sanish Riverview Cemetery, New Town.

Visitation: Today, Friday, Sept. 5, from noon to 5 p.m. in Langhans Funeral Home, Parshall.
